Celebrity Search…Kristi Williamson!!

A little rain never hurts, right? Well, it usually does for Newport brides considering they usually picture themselves looking out towards the Newport bridge watching the sun set. But this rainy Saturday didn't bother Kristi Williamson. Not one bit. She figured any expectations of a perfect day in April would be pretty lofty anyways.

New Leaf's  wedding team headed off to Oceancliff to beautify Kristi and her girls...We got to the room to find a California-kinda calm bride. We love that! Isn't she cute?

Amy G. makes sure all the girls are looking perfect...

Our rising wedding team star, Jenn, pins her half-up style...

We love when Snap! Photography shows up...They always capture such stellar shots, plus, their blog is a blast to read...Here is their version of Jenn making sure Delaney's hair looks juuuuust right!

So there is this game we play when we go out called "Celebrity Search'...it's fun to do while you are having a drink at the bar, waiting for your table at dinner, in a long line at  the grocery store or anywhere really. You scan the crowd for anyone who looks like a celebrity and say "Celebrity Search (insert name here)". Everyone decides if they agree or disagree and the person with most 'agrees' wins. It 's the honor system, okay?

Anyways, if we saw Kristi across the bar, I would say, "Celebrity Search KATIE HOLMES"! You can totally see it, right? Put Kristi's hand in Tom Cruise's tight grip, throw Suri in some sparkly high heels, and place them in a fancy mall and you have yourself a celebrity couple!

P.S. We're pretty sure Kristi is happy to be marrying James and not Tom Cruise....James seemed much more stable;-)

This Snap-periffic shot captured all the girls, their pretty dresses, flowers and, of course, hair and make up...Love how Delaney is laughing!

Kristi went with a soft half up style that still showed off her beautiful sapphire earrings...

Snap! Photography does this really cool photo booth at weddings...Guests 'snap' their own photos and then take the images home with them as favors. Genius, right? Glad the hair and make-up held up through all the drizzle!

Just love this photo...Plus it shows the delicate white flowers the florist surprised Kristi with. The flower ornaments aren't just for brides!

To see more of Kristi's wedding, check out Snap!'s blog...a big thanks to Kristi, her mom Jackie, and her entourage for spending the morning with the New Leaf crew. You made our jobs fantastically enjoyable that day!

Stay tuned for more wedding fun...

Sparkles & Snowflakes

We heart winter weddings.

Is there anything more magical and festive than a winter wedding? I think not.
Fur stoles, sparkly white lights, snow on the ground, the scent of pine in the air--what isn't to love?

Linsday Newall, our Boston bride, felt the same way.

Once Upon a Time…

Once upon a time, Sue Austin gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Anne. She dreamed of planning her wedding one day. She pictured her daughter wearing a gorgeous gown and long, flowing veil, fit for a princess.

All of Sue Austin's dreams came true for Anne.

Sue booked Anne's wedding over a year ago so we were dying to meet Anne. We got a sneak peek of her on Snap! Photography's blog, wearing the sassiest skirt and heels, skipping around Castle Island in Boston with her fiance, Tony. We were not disappointed when we met her.
Anne is one of the sweetest, nicest brides we have ever met. She has a smile that lights up any room, the cutest giggle, and was super easy to please. It is no surprise that Tony is smitten with his princess.

Retro Is All The Rage

Retro and fun are two words to describe Caitlin Chipperfield's 'vibe' for her wedding.
She lucked out with some beautiful fall weather for her Oceancliff affair. Now I have lived in New England my whole life. Why does it still shock me that, in October, I can watch the Patriots playing in the snow one day and then our bride can get married outside in Newport two weeks later?
Courtesy of our friends at Snap! Photography, here is what a ceremony looks like at Oceancliff...well, minus the guests wearing summer attire. I think it was still too cool for that.

I bet Caitlin never dreamed that her ceremony could be outside.

Double Dresses!

I met Jill Sartorelli at her wedding hair trial in the spring, and we both agreed it felt like eons ago! When did that start happening? Years, months, seasons, they all blend. My mom warned me about that...

When I first met Jill, I instantly liked her. She was so sweet, soft-spoken and easy-going. It's no wonder she works with children for a living. Her fiance and her have been together for 8 years so they had been waiting for this day forever! Anyways, Jill's wedding was planned for a Sunday and she never dreamed the weather in October would be so gorgeous! The air was crisp, the sun was shining, it smelled like fall. Perfection.

Jill's mom told me when they visited Glen Manor for the first time, it was a day just like this one. They booked the venue. But Jill also did something smart. She expected rain. She planned on things being inside. Usually, I like to think positively but for a day like your wedding, it's best not to have your heart set on sunshine. Why not, you ask? Because if you focus on what the day really is about, the weather becomes secondary. And that's nice. Sure, every bride wants the perfect day, but if you focus on other things, what is a better surprise than waking up and seeing sun? It's kind of like an 'added bonus' to marrying your best friend.

We wish they all could be California giiiiirls…

Brides must really love Rhode Island. Kate Hunter came all the way from California to get married. I think Kate just really loves her fiance, whose family lives here. Her mom, Nadine, did a lot of the organizing for Kate. Come to think of it, I never did get to meet the mom behind the magic....hmph.

New Leaf Girls Go Hollywood!

We knew it was only a matter of time before New Leaf would be 'discovered'. Well...not really. Let me explain....

A year and a half ago, Floridians Michelle Cassidy and John Bannon decided to tie the knot in Newport, RI. Little did they know that they would find themselves being filmed for a network television series on WEtv called "Platinum Weddings". It's basically a show about really fancy weddings. Please don't confuse this show with Bridezillas (although that show is a fantastic car wreck kind of reality programming). Michelle was nothing like those brides...she was sweet, down-to-earth, and incredibly easy-going. Oh, and beautiful.

Snap-tastic!

We know a good thing when we see one. That's why when our friend Mariah at Snap! Photography was 'snapping' Jennifer Resnick's Linden Place affair, we default to the professionals. Snap!'s collection of Jenn's photos IS the reason why every bride needs to hire a professional photographer. For this reason, I will not post our sad little pictures because we will surely be shown up by some fantastic competition!
