New Leaf Hair Studio on Facebook

Love your Mother…

Love your Mother...Don't forget Mother's Day, which is Sunday May 9th. Both New Leaf and therapy boutique are great places to shop. Pick up Mom's favorite products (we can look them up in our system for you...no guessing necessary) or shop for something unique and stylish in the fabulously fun therapy boutique. If Mom loves to shop for herself (you know, the kind of mom who thinks shopping is a sport), pick up a gift card!

You should also love your mother earth too...Spring is here and April celebrates Earth Day. Everywhere you look, you read words like eco-chic, energy efficient and 'green'. It's all the rage, as it should be.

Lots of clients are asking about this image in our window...

The number one question is..."Can I have that haircut?"

Followed by..."I love HER blonde. Can I have it?"

And finished up with..."Who IS she?"

The answers are: Maybe. Maybe. Alyssa Keating, faithful New Leaf-er for years.

Check out our behind the scenes photoshoot with our friends at Snap! Photography...

Our fab stylist Jamie Evenson setting Alyssa's fine blonde hair...

Jamie is from Wisconsin and came to New Leaf because, In her words, wanted to work at the best. Awww. The feeling is mutual, Jamie. She drives from Cranston every day, which to Rhode Island lifers is a day trip! Jamie is very 'green', driving her very gas efficient car to work every day. Experience one of her blow outs and you will be smitten.

Products used: B &b Styling Cream, Bumble Classic Hairspray and B &b brilliantine

Earth to Alyssa. Clients also ask, "What IS that thing?" It's called a CLIMAZON, which is a controlled heat source used for speeding up processing time, deep conditioners, drying perfect curls, and more. Curly clients wish they could have this thing at their house. Can you imagine bringing it home to your family?!? "But, sweetie, what do you MEAN it doesn't fit in the living room? It looks fine." :o)

Jamie wasn't torturing her, we swear.

Off to the make up chair with Amy G, where beauty happens.

Greens, golds and oh so natural. Amy G created this flawless canvas (her specialty) for Alyssa. She is just beautiful.

Amy used Smashbox's Heartbreaker collection. Dont' the blues, greens and browns remind you of the Greek Isles? Makes me want to go there right now...

We are insane for the lighting in this image. Alyssa was so versatile with her expressions--a perfect model. Did we mention it was 20 degrees in the solarium at Linden Place for this shot?

She's laughing even though she has no coat! Winter feels so long ago now...

Summer anyone?

We are SO ready for some s-u-n!

Call 401.254.9333 or book your appointment online now for a new spring look, some summery highlights and of course, to 'recycle' your old items in your make up bag with Amy G!

Thanks to Amy, Jamie, and Snap! for getting us in a blue sky frame of mind...

Seeing Spring on the Horizon…

Well, as the saying goes, "out like a lion, in like a lamb". Since the horrible rain sure roared loudly, let's see that LAMB! The next few days are going to be beautiful, and here in little Rhody, we could sure use those happy rays of sunshine.

These past few days reminded us of our recent photoshoot with our good friends at Snap! Photography...we thought this shot of Mallory captured our 'Spring Dreams' perfectly.

Doesn't Mallory look like she is just waiting for some nice weather? Her make up is fresh, fun and flirty. Amy G, our make up guru, used Smashbox 'Heartbreaker' Collection. You MUST try Smashbox Heartbreaker Lipshine. It has just enough pink in it to brighten up your make up palette without overtaking your natural look.

Amy G also recommends this beautiful new eyeshadow palette she used on Mallory....

Amy says the that the playful pinks and purples in 'Kiss and Tell' are perfect for spring. The eyeshadow palette comes with 6 shades and an eyeshadow brush. Stop in next time you're in Bristol and have Amy G try them out!

Here is Melanie Cambra, the stylist behind the magic of Mallory. Mell has been a stylist for more than 15 years. Her attention to detail is incredible, and while she may tease herself about her OCD tendencies, her clients love it. Mell is honest and direct, and if you are looking for a stylist to point you in the right direction, look no further.

Mell's signature style is her beautiful bobs, which can be seen around Bristol and beyond. Boy, that was a lot of B's...new tongue twister! She also happens to be an amazing colorist, with her priority always being the integrity of your hair, which is why her clients walk around with the healthiest hair in town.

Love Mallory's bob? If you are sporting the 'do, and feel bored wearing it the same old way, try something different...

Mell recommends blow drying it with the ends flicked out. Forget the super straight look for just one day. Apply Bumble & Bumble's Styling Cream to damp hair for texture, support and body to damp hair. Piece out the look with Bumble's Sumotech, another stylist fav.

Blow dry...

How cute is Mallory, really?

Mell perfecting the look...

A behind the scenes shot of Mallory at Linden Place in Bristol and her friend Alyssa, another model coming soon...wink

Aren't you just insane for this style? We were debating whether Mallory looked more like Jennifer Aniston or Christina Applegate...you decide. We think she looks just perfect.

Love the JoJo necklace Mallory is wearing? She picked that up at New Leaf's newest addition...therapy. boutique! It's a JoJo necklace that screams spring and summer. It's the perfect piece to brighten up any neutral outfit. Remember, your jeans might feel tight after a big Easter brunch but a bright accessory always fits.

We have to thank Snap! Photography, Susan at Linden Place, Amy G and Mell for making this shoot a success and putting us in the mood for spring! Good heavens, it's April already!!

No Autographs, Please!

Tune in Sunday evening to the show Platinum Weddings on WeTV 9pm EST. Michelle and John's "Platinum Wedding" was styled by the New Leaf team this past summer at OceanCliff in Newport.

Watch the sneak peak below and make sure to keep your eyes peeled ... you might catch Ashley or Courtney working it in the background!

Behind the Scenes at New Leaf: Vintage Valentine

We are still in the spirit of Valentine's Day at New Leaf. Maybe that's because during the month of February a portion of every Chocolate Sensation Pedicure (HUGE hit, by the way) and lipstick purchased will be donated to the American Heart Association. OF COURSE we still feel the love!

Maybe you have walked by the salon lately and noticed our February window display promoting our 'Love Cures' campaign. Those fabulous images were taken by our friends at Snap! Photography. Pam envisioned the Mad Men inspired look for the shoot and made the hair HAPPEN! The flawless make up you see was done by none other than our very own make up wizard, Amy G.

Here's a peek at the 'process' of getting a model camera ready...

Amy G scoping out her canvas...

And action...

Our model, Courtney, PRE-sexy red lips...

Okay, so check out those waves...

Back in the day, women would wash their hair, find the hardest holding gel, and set their hair in finger waves. It's a tedious process, one every hairstylist had to master in hairdressing school before getting his or her cosmetology license. When we would complain, they promised us the finger wave would come back, as most trends do. Boy, were they right, we see the waveson almost every celebrity.

Dilemma. Back in the 1920's, blow dryers and curling irons were being tinkered on in some inventor's old garage. The handheld hair dryer was not seen in a woman's bathroom for decades. Women sat for HOURS while their hair dried into the wave set. Fast forward to 2010 and there is now such a thing as a TRIPLE-BARREL curling iron to create the look in minutes...

Pam pins the "roll"...

Susan from Linden Place in Bristol was nice enough to let us take over the house. Trish and Mariah from Snap! said there was an amazing vintage bathroom upstairs. Boy, were they right!

Here is our view point of Mariah in action...

And Snap!'s...

Isn't the antique finish amazing?!?

Courtney (Pam's model) really knew how to work it. She should, she happens to be the fashion editor at RI Monthly!

Her make up is just flawless...who doesn't want to feel like this in February?

Love everything about this photo--the hair 'roll', the lipstick, the pearls...The SNap!pers did it again!

What!?! A hat too?I love her expression here, like she is thinking about a secret she is keeping...

Our thanks to Snap! and kudos to Amy G and Pam for making the photo shoot a smashing success!

There is still time for YOU to indulge in our Chocolate Sensation Pedicure...call 401.254.9333 or book 'HEART' online! You have until Saturday, February 27th...
